(Prepared summer 2012)
- Be prepared to deviate from "the plan".
- I hope to always have well-thought out back-up plans, since lessons do not always last as long as initially suspected, or perhaps the students are not learning well through the strategies being taught in a particular lesson.
- Allow and foster infinite teaching moments, even if they were not originally planned.
- I hope to develop lesson plans that are dynamic enough to allow flexibility within the classroom, to allow those precious a-ha teaching moments to be expanded and utilized rather than forcing students to move-on through my timeline of the day, without allowing them opportunities to deeply engage and enjoy their learning.
- Focus on time management of lessons in order to keep lessons timely and provide lesson closure.
- I have struggled in the past, to nicely wrap up my lessons; I hope to be timely enough to provide lesson closure for my students.
- I would like to be involved in communication with parents through e-mails, notes home, and conferences. Since collaboration with parents is a critical aspect of teaching, I hope to be involved in some of the communication.
NCLB in my classroom will mean: providing ALL my students with the care and support they need for maximum academic and personal growth.
